Looking for Sales Recruitment?

Sales is an important role as it is the fundamental part that keeps a company afloat. Without any sales, the business would be non-existent because of no cash flow into the company. A role within sales can be easily overlooked as any other employee, however, it doesn’t mean it is an easy ride. Exhilarating, fast paced and busy explains a role in sales, however, it’s very rewarding when a deal/sale comes through. Sales Characteristics

Each business is different and due to the nature of a sales role, a person needs to be very adaptable to the environment around them. We have listed a few characteristics that most good salespeople have in common. To get ahead with sales recruitment in Bedfordshire then check out the list.

Personal:

The most fundamental point that will put you apart from the rest of the crowd. The person you are trying to call or get hold of will have more than likely received a similar service or product call today alone. Yes even before 9am sometimes. So what are you going to do make sure they don’t hang up within the first 5 seconds. The best answer is to make a call is to research the person you are trying to reach and find out a bit about their company. Whether your call warrants even talking or putting effort to call them. There is no point calling trying to sell someone office equipment, for them to turn round and go I’m a start up and I am the only employee. I doubt it very much they will need 20 rulers or 100 highlighters.

It’s all about relevance and being organised before hand. By doing your research you can address them personally, for example, “Hi John, I know you are upgrading your office in the coming months. Have you considered upgrading or ordering more office equipment?” Your one line opener becomes relevant as to what your call is about and created a mutual relationship instantly.

Resilience:

Being resilient in the sales world means you got to be able to take constant “no’s” from people. Not everyone is interested or need your product or service, sometimes you just have to face the fact and accept it. However, that doesn’t mean you give up when faced with difficulty when earning a sale. It sometimes just comes down to being resilient and keep ringing until you get hold of the person you’re after. More than likely you will first speak to a receptionist or PA before you get through to a manager. But if you are resilient, polite and patient it usually pays off. If one technique doesn’t work, just try another to communicate. Send them an email, skype call, LinkedIn Message or simply pop by in the office if you pass them by.

Organisation:

This is where those sales which ‘should of’, ‘could of’ and ‘would of’ dropped is directly linked with your organisation. Saying I will call you next Monday 9:00am, doesn’t mean you decide to drop them a call Wednesday midday. It shows that you don’t care and at the very least can not organise your own time. How are you going to convince a company to buy a product or service when you fall short. It represents the face of your company, if you’re late with a follow-up call, they will expect that with your delivery and any other service part of your company. Keep a diary of call’s, people you need to follow up with and any meetings planned. Being on top of your schedule will also reduce the workload, and efficiency as you don’t waste calling the same person after they already said no.

Passion:

The number one factor which will capture someone’s undivided attention. The sales person acts as the face of the company, so if you’re not enthusiastic about your product why would you expect anyone to buy it. Having and showing emotion can be a hard way to evoke that over the phone, as you don’t get to see each other’s face. However, there are ways to elevate your voice and keep you upbeat. Preform upbeat and excessive exercises which elevate your body to open up. From a Ted Talks show, science proved that body language is an important factor that can result in your mood, doing 5 min stretches may sound silly but it sure does help open the mind. The other tip is to walk or stand up while making a call, sitting in a chair makes your sound flat and boring. That doesn’t mean you go buy a pogo stick for the office.
